September Showdown

Chelan Gorge is one of those special places that I will return every year to paddle epic whitewater and party with great friends.  Thanks to all that came and made this year's release the largest in history; by "history" I mean the last four years.  Huge thanks to Dan Patrinellis, Scott weidlich, and all others involved for your coordination with the Chelan PUD.

The forest fires burn over the hills next to camp.  I thought we had it bad in White Salmon, not the case.  Over 100 forest fires between Chelan and Wenatchee were started by a lightning storm that lasted only one evening.  Damn nature, you scary...but beautiful

Heck, even the Portland crew showed up.

Conversation, "Does it go?"  "Rob ran it."  Not a valid answer if you've boated with rob.

This is the camp at put in,  power and running water, roughin' it.

It was a good turn out on Saturday.

Until next year, Chelan will remain dormant, waiting for next years carnage.

Thanks to All who came out and participated in this amazing journey, you were all inspiring to paddle with. I enjoyed every minute of your company, from breakfast till Senior' Frogs.

Clowning around the Cooper

It's hard to decide whether it's best to boat in winter, or summer.  On one hand you have an abundance of streams that are flowing through the entire winter, classic run after classic run.  On the other is amazing weather, long days, and enough light to do multiple laps down a backyard classic.  Plus there is nothing funner than creeking with a huge crew of motivated boaters.  Here's a few shot's of our fun, with good water and better friend's.

Fun way to start of the run

PNW

Heaven on Earth

It's hard to say which is the best run, I don't think I have one single run that I think is the best.  I do however have a few favorite runs in mind.  Such as Top Tye, Robe Canyon, Icicle Creek, and a few more top hopeful's.  As I made my way from the Robe race to the Wenatchee I made a couple stops on the way to bring me back to reality.  One of those stops turned out top be the Tye river, Which never disappoint's.

Brett and I stopped on our way over to Levenworth for some Laps on the Tye.  Here is a couple pics from our evening run.

Now we move on to some of the hardest and steepest boulder gardens in the state. Due to the fact this run is roadside doesn't take away from this creeks amazing scenery and challenging whitewater.
